League Demands FBI Investigation Before Full Senate Vote on Kavanaugh

Washington, DC – The League of Women Voters President Chris Carson and CEO Virginia Kase issued the following joint statement:

“This hearing was an appalling display of inequity for women’s voices. Throughout the hearing process, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s powerful testimony resonated with women across the country. She was a cooperative, compelling, and composed witness.

“We are disappointed in the Senate Judiciary Committee’s decision to advance the nomination without a full FBI investigation. To date, this incomplete process has left the American people questioning whether the Senate has sufficient information to confirm a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court.

“We demand Senator Majority Leader Mitch McConnell call for a full FBI investigation into all allegations of sexual misconduct before the full Senate votes on this nomination."
