The League of Women Voters filed a lawsuit Thursday seeking to prevent those who sent robocalls mimicking President Joe Biden’ s voice to New Hampshire voters from using artificial intelligence for future deceptions.
Today, the League of Women Voters of New Hampshire, the League of Women Voters of the United States, and individual New Hampshire voters filed a federal lawsuit against Steve Kramer, Lingo Telecom, LLC, and Life Corporation for voter intimidation, coercion, and deception ahead of the 2024 New Hampshire presidential primary.
LWVUS signed onto a letter to the congressional subcommittees on Health and Human Services (HHS) urging them to double funding for HHS' Office for Civil Rights (OCR) in FY25 appropriations. OCR enforces civil rights and health information security in HHS-funded or -administered programs, including HIPAA, ACA Section 1557, and parts of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This funding would support efforts in nondiscrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, language, age, sex, pregnancy or related conditions including pregnancy termination, sexual orientation, gender identity, and disability; as well as its work to secure personal health information.
The League of Women Voters of New Jersey and partners filed an amicus curiae brief in Kim v. Hanlon, a case challenging New Jersey’s use of the unconstitutional and discriminatory “county line” on its ballots.
