LWVUS joined over 50 partner organizations urging Congress to pass legislation to protect federal elections from the growing threat of deceptive AI-generated content.

The League signed onto a letter to US Congress urging them to ensure that the Weldon Amendment is not included in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 budget. The Weldon Amendment is an appropriations rider that threatens the loss of federal funding for federal agencies and programs or state and local governments that require health insurance plans, health care institutions, or health care professionals to cover, provide, or refer for abortions.

The League joined a coalition of organizations on comments to the Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Trade Commission, and the Department of Health and Human Services regarding a request for information regarding the consolidation of health care markets. 

The League of Women Voters of the United States joined public comments to the US Census Bureau supporting them conducting a test of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) measures on the American Community Survey (ACS).

The League signed onto a letter to US Congress urging them to ensure that the Hyde Amendment is not included in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 budget.

The League of Women Voters of the United States joined a sign-on letter to leadership in the US House of Representatives, welcoming the reintroduction of the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.

LWVUS Opposes SAVE Act (Legal Document)

LWVUS joined coalition partners to oppose the SAVE Act, which would require citizenship documentation to cast a ballot, despite the fact that voters in every state are already required to affirm or verify their citizenship status when registering to vote.

LWVUS joined coalition partners in strong opposition to H.R. 7530, the D.C. Criminal Reforms to Immediately Make Everyone Safe (DC CRIMES) Act, and H.R. 5798, the Protecting our Nation’s Capital Emergency Act of 2023.

LWVUS and partners urged Congress to oppose H.R. 7109, the Equal Representation Act.

The League joined the ACLU and Demos on a federal register notice from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
