On March 3, 1913, 5,000 suffragists from across the country gathered in Washington, DC, to demand the right to vote, helping pave the way for the 19th Amendment.

On Wednesday, February 27th, the Supreme Court will review Shelby County, Alabama v. Holder, a case that questions the constitutionality of Section 5 the Voting Rights Act (VRA) of 1965.

Next Tuesday, February 12th, President Obama will deliver his annual State of the Union (SOTU) address, which will outline his key priorities for the year and second term in office.
