Why It Matters
The leaders we elect make decisions that affect our daily lives. Elections are our chance to stand up for what matters most to us and to have an impact on the issues that affect us, our communities, our families and our future.
What We're Doing
We host hundreds of candidate debates and forums across the country each year and provide straightforward information about candidates and ballot issues. Through print and online resources, including VOTE411.org, we equip voters with essential information about the election process in each state, including polling place hours and locations, ballot information, early or absentee voting rules, voter registration deadlines, ID requirements and more.

“Can getting teens to register to vote at the same time they get their driver's license increase their chances of voting when they turn 18? ... Kim Abel, co-president of the League of Women Voters of Washington, says her group supports the idea, since it goes hand-in-hand with the state's newest high school graduation requirement. ‘The League's really excited that we worked with the state Legislature to pass civics education - and if you've got students signing up to register to vote, all of a sudden that civics lesson makes a lot more sense to them.’”
“Kathleen Werner Vice President of the League of Women Voters of St. Mary’s County, today urged voters in St. Mary’s County to prepare for the upcoming primary by attending the candidate forum on March 29 and by visiting the League website VOTE411.org to learn about the candidates and read tips about voting in Maryland.”
