LWVUS is urging Congress to extend the statutory reporting deadlines that the U.S. Census must follow when sending apportionment numbers to the President and sending redistricting data to the states. 

Every 10 years, after the collection of the decennial census data, states redraw their state and congressional district lines. Here are 10 things you should know about it works.

A federal judge ruled in Miller v. Thurston that 150,000 signatures collected for a ballot measure that would create an independent redistricting commission in the state were invalid.
