LWVUS joined other organizations urging committee members to support the restoration of the Black Lung Disability Trust Fund (BLDTF).

LWVUS urges all  House Representatives to vote for the legislation HR 5746, the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act, and move it to the Senate for immediate consideration and debate.

The League calls on members of Congress to enact federal elections protections by supporting the Freedom to Vote Act and other legal remedies as needed. 

ILWVUS joined coalition partners on complimentary comments to the Council on Environmental Quality’s (CEQ) rule making regarding the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

LWVUS joined the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights calling on the US Senate to move the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act forward for debate.

The League joined an ERA Coalition sign-on letter to the US Attorney General urging him to direct the Office of Legal Counsel to withdraw its 2020 memo on the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA).

LWVUS joined a letter sent to the director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), requesting increased investments in global gender equality

LWVUS President and native Iowan, Dr. Deborah Turner, sent a letter to Senator Chuck Grassley, urging him to support final passage of the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
