The deadline to submit your comments in support of the Environmental Protection Agency's first-ever methane pollution standard is quickly approaching. Join us in telling EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy that you support efforts to cut methane emissions.
With the rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline, President Obama has proven that he is committed to putting the American people before polluters through his Climate Action Plan.
“The League applauds the historic step made by the Obama Administration to fully reject the Keystone XL pipeline,” said Elisabeth MacNamara, president of the League of Women Voters of the United States.
The League joined with over one hundred other organizations urging Congressional appropriators to protect mandatory funding for farm bill conservation programs, support robust discretionary funding for Conservation Technical Assistance, and reject any attempt to undermine highly erodible land and wetland conservation compliance.
The League sent a letter to the U.S. Senate opposing any attempt to block the implementation of the Administrations Clean Power Plan. Under the Congressional Review Act, Congress can review the implementation of regulations developed by the Administration. Members of the LWVUS Lobby Corps will be visiting Senate offices to discuss this groundbreaking regulation that will save lives and protect the environment.
“This is disappointing and a further call to action for regulation of ozone pollution that puts American’s health first and foremost,” said Elisabeth MacNamara, president of the League of Women Voters of the United States.
Tell the EPA’s administrator, Gina McCarthy, you support the regulation to mitigate climate change and protect the air we breathe by cutting methane emissions.
I will be stepping down in a few weeks after 15 years as the League’s executive director. I am confident that the League will continue its work to make American democracy as good as the ideals on which the country was founded.
