Absentee Voting

Since the 2000 Presidential Election, I have been anxiously waiting to get the opportunity to vote. I went as far as creating a mock election ballot for my elementary school for the 2004 Presidential Election to feel like I was contributing to the election in some way.  The 2008 election was the most frustrating for me; I was four months too young to be eligible to vote in California. I knew I would have to wait another four years.

Tonight is the vice presidential debate! While you're thinking about the election, learn about early voting options or request an absentee ballot if you'll need one!

“Gov. Rick Snyder [MI] on Tuesday vetoed three election law bills pushed by Republican legislators seeking to require a ballot box affirmation of citizenship, restrict voter registration drives and require photo ID for obtaining an absentee ballot.”

“Voter advocates have urged state lawmakers not to make any changes to Ohio's election law before November, including repealing the new law. "Why rush to repeal a bill that is not in effect?" Peg Rosenfield of Ohio's League of Women Voters asked the committee.”

“Two lawmakers exchanged heated remarks during testimony over the proposed voter identification legislation. Debate escalated after Susan Smith, president of League of Women Voters of Michigan, said there is a national trend of voter suppression through ID requirements.”
