Yesterday, millions of Americans in states across the country cast ballots in some 5,500 local and state elections. Voters recognized that voting is your chance to stand up for what matters most, even during an “off-year” election.

Yesterday, a record 800+ groups—including nearly 300 League of Women Voters affiliates in 43 states—headed out into their neighborhoods to help Americans register to vote or update their registration.

The League made key suggestions to President Obama's Presidential Commission on Election Administration Reform. 

On September 24, 2013, the League will celebrate National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) with a major voter registration event, featuring actress America Ferrera, in New York City's Bryant Park.

Earlier this week, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a victory for voters when it struck down an Arizona law requiring documentary proof of citizenship when citizens register to vote.
