The League of Women Voters of Massachusetts is disappointed with the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in McCullen v. Coakley that the Massachusetts buffer zone law, as written, is unconstitutional.

Today, on the one year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision that gutted key provisions of the Voting Rights Act, the Senate will finally hold a hearing on the Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2014 (VRAA).

Access to the vote is not about politics; it's about justice and equality. The Voting Rights Amendment Act (VRAA) is the remedy that will help ensure equal access to the vote for all eligible Americans.

I joined members of Congress and leading civil rights leaders at a press conference to call on Congress to move the Voting Rights Amendment Act (VRAA) forward.

So as we approach Mother’s Day, I want to thank my League foremothers. And, I want to offer them a gift: to try my best to be a role model for those coming after me.

I'm the mother of two small children, and while my children are too small to understand the issues on the ballot or being discussed in the government meetings we attend, I am teaching them everyday lessons they can carry with them.
